So, here is a secoind steel cent that I purchased from my good CR friend...the late/great CT member rlms_cents. My goal was to assemble a choice P/D/S set and I purchased the P/S from him. Still need to get the D. This is one of my favorite coins and it lives in a PCGS slab. Recently, I upgraded my camera from a Canon T3i to a Canon EOS R and just today my 100mm Marco Lens arrived. So, this was the second coin I photographed last night with the new lens. This coin has a very different look than the one I posted for my previous steely GTG...which is why I bought the coins. Both are beautiful in their own way. I think the photo came out OK. What do you think the grade is? Also, any opinions/suggestions on my photos is welcome.
Yes, I remember rlms_cents, good man! Looks a bit whizzed but I'll guess a 64. It's very nice but the nick under the 3, irks to me!
OK...that's been long enough. This coin graded MS66...just like the previous one I posted. In hand, it has very proof like fields. This is why I bought the coin...it looks more like a proof than any steely I have ever seen before. That being said, PCGS has never graded a steel cent with the PL designation. But, I suspect this is about as close as it gets. I love this coin.
Thanks. All I can figure is PCGS just doesn't recognize these coins as being able to be PL. I don't see graded by NGC as PL either.
