I normally don't collect late Roman coins, concentrating instead on 1st and 2nd century. However, since finding a Constantine follis from Lyon with my detector (which Ardatirion ID'd), my curiosity was piqued. I saw these two at the Frankfurt (Numismata) coin show over last weekend, and could not resist. The price was very reasonable too. I would appreciate any information you can give me. The coin with the 2 Victorias over an altar has a faint silver shimmer to it. Could it be silver plating? Thanks and regards, Eduard

well, once again thank you very much Ardatirion! I really like the reverse with the 2 victorias. regards, Eduard
Thank you Cucumbor, thank you all. What i am still wondering about is that the Trier follis definitely has a faint silver sheen to it. It is faint, but unlike any of my Roman bronzes. The pictures do not capture it well, it is mostly in the recessed areas. I am starting to like late roman coinage! I never paid any attention to them before.
