Struck Through Cheshire Cat? I don't see a whole lot of device weakness around the void, which would make me think it was a planchet flaw that caused a piece or pieces to fall off after the strike. But that appearance on both sides -- weird!
First thought was a planchet defect but that's just an uneducated guess. Sticking around to find out the answer.
The arc that is pointing inward is the same on both sides. Same with the opposite side of the hole they look the same. Looks like something mechanical tried taking a bite out of it.
Abe's tailor got mad and ripped his sleeve, or the architect broke the roof. LOL I've not seen one like this and the links were educational. Thanks for the post.
Since the OP didn't come back to give us a answer, let break this coin down . A " Ragged Perforation " form a " Ragged Hole " . http://www.error-ref.com/ragged-perforations/ A Fissures: " Ragged Fissure " forms a " Ragged Clip And Ragged Notches " . http://www.error-ref.com/fissures_-_ragged___smooth/ I see no ragged clip and ragged notches, on the OP coin ..
