New acquisition... PCGS certified. GTG









PS: Keep in mind, it’s a tiny coin and hard to photograph. First set of pictures shows more details, second set shows the coin’s color better. Anyway it’s just for fun, so go ahead and GTG ;-)

I went 58 only because it looks like some rub on the hair but that could be a strike problem. Neat coin.

 

61. The coin is a classic slider.

I guess 55. Seems to be some evident luster left. Not too much wear but more than I expect from a 58. Especially given the soft nature of gold.

There also seems to be some dirt in the letters on the legend which to me proves it spent some time in circulation. It had to have been cleaned at some point which left dirt in those crevices. I don’t think the cleaning is enough to details it so 55 seems fair since it has good eye appeal.

 

While the PR 67 option was tempting I went with AU 55 (looked circulated to me and not quite what I'd expect from an AU 58)

I was in the 55 camp, but since everyone 'got it wrong', I went AU details.

 

Unc-details? I had voted MS 61.

 

I am seriously flattered that nobody guessed AU-53... it confirms my impression that this coin could have graded higher. My guess would have been either AU55 or 58.

 

Low grade. It deserved more.
