I've had several of these Tokens over the years and I've heard about fakes but I had never seen one, not until today! This one's an obvious fake even a collector who knows nothing about the history of these Tokens can easily tell it's a fake. The second link tells the real story! Just sharing! https://www.ebay.com/itm/Barbados-1...336456?hash=item36647fe1c8:g:~HYAAOSwrHNe35bl https://coins.nd.edu/ColCoin/ColCoinIntros/Barbados.intro.html
I'm still trying to learn but from what I can tell from comparisons, does the decollete of the fake one extend to far to the left? Also is the crown too different? Please let me know if these are what makes it fake. If you could point out other differences that would be great! Thank you
My bad, I must have missed your question somehow, but that's okay as I finally found mine, so now you should be able to see the difference! The fake is all wrong, I've been around these Tokens for quite awhile and I've had a few different ones. The surface is all wrong on the fake. Another thing I noticed about these Tokens is on the obverse, the "I Serve", on the genuine always seems to be a little bit lower on the coin than it should be. The fake looks way too perfect in that regard! Also, another thing I noticed about these Tokens is on the reverse, almost every single one I've ever come across has what I call a popped out or clipped out "A", in Barbadoes! The link below shows a couple of genuine Slave Tokens as well! Hope that helps you! https://www.ebay.com/itm/2X-BARBADO...=184366381430e2ca7e6783a249ee82ad5c74f054fb8b
I can see the difference your referring to. There is a big difference, even in the shape of the coin. Yours almost have a concave or convex look to them. Thank you again. They are beautiful coins!!
