What kind of music do ancient collectors listen to?

I'm afraid, due to my upbringing, the scope of the music that I like to listen to when reading, writing, studying coins, making labels, photographing, and generally wasting time, is classical music. When I was young (Jethro Tull?) I used to listen to pop (mainly the Who and Pink Floyd) as well as progressive jazz (Herbie Hancock and Chick Corea), but now that I am old I've come back to classical music.

    Here are some examples:

Sorry to be obtuse but I'm not quite clear what Poor old man is asking? Is it what very, very ancient collectors listen to or what collectors of ancient coins listen to? ( Sorry again but I have a warped/mischievous SOH and am not trying to be too much of a PITA?)

I love offbeat International stuff like that. Seen that band before.

Here's some very catchy Slovak stuff.

Hey ya hoy ya hey yahoy ya hey!

I once spent an entire night listening to this melancholy and beautiful piece on repeat. In the video, the editor looped the short Shostakovich suite (which is only 3+ minutes long, I think) into an hour-long video. I repeated that several times, well into the wee hours.

I like melancholy music, and nobody does melancholy like the Russians. This one has bright spots, too, however. I imagine people ice skating to it.

It was my first discovery of Shostakovich, of whom I had heard but had never listened to. When something resonates with me, I'll listen to it for a day or two on end.

This was a rare like from me in that my Classical tastes run much earlier, usually to the Baroque era. I typically do not much care for 20th century composers except Aaron Copland, and some Spanish ones.

Oh- and I have a crush on the German hurdy-gurdy artist who calls herself "Patty Gurdy".

Not for everyone. But I love her stuff. (Doesn't hurt that she's also very easy on the eyesight.)

@herotodus- Julian Bream's recordings are the reason I make an exception for Spanish Classical when I say I don't care much for 20th century Classical music.

Except Copland, of course. And John Williams.

Say, here is some more Russkie stuff. Or so I assume, from the Cyrillic title I can't read. Folksy. Funny. I have no idea what they're singing, but I love it.

That Albert King Blues clip you posted was great, too. I confess I hadn't heard of him.

Here is something that ancient collectors, particularly collectors of Alexander the Great may enjoy. It's one of my favorites from George Frederick Handel. "Alexanders Feast". This is one of the best performances available. It was written in 1736 in London, so is sung in English. The story describes a banquet held by Alexander the Great and his mistress Thais in the captured Persian city of Persepolis, during which the musician Timotheius sings and plays his lyre, arousing various moods in Alexander until he is finally incited to burn the city down in revenge for his dead Greek soldiers.

NIN, St. Vincent, Mellencamp, Zeppelin, Stones, Steely Dan. Mostly blues influenced rock. Blues live which is easy in Chicago.

    Steely Dan seems appropriate here:
