All obstacles out of your way, financial and physical, what's the coin that you want most right now?o_O... or one of them.
Tell me about a coin type that you don't have, won't have anytime soon and frankly don't want others to know about, for fear it would just turn more people on to its amazing type!:wideyed::snaphappy::nailbiting:
I've plenty. But the one that keeps showing up on my radar...

Philip V's, who would name his son after the God, Perseus

    240px-Persee-florence.jpg
    (Yeah, THAT Perseus)

, the last legitimate king of macedon *unless you count his son, and wildly popular and charismatic Philip V.

    sevt-s.jpg

The same Philip V whom brought Macedon back from the brink with a series of stirring land and sea victories:jimlad: solidifying Macedon as the eminent dominate force in Greece... right as Rome was making its presence known on the world stage. Bad timing anyone?

    201817-stranger.jpg
    rom.PNG
(Now, that's a hard outing for anybody!)

The same Rome that had just more then decimated Carthage, spawning one of the greatest young generals since ATG, in Scipio Africanus, along the way. And then for good measure salted the earth afterward! Which probably didn't actually happen (though, as one of my favorite historians, Harl, says, "If it didn't actually happen, the story is so good that it should have."

    prof_kenneth_harl_4.1395271385.jpg
(Tell me that beers with this guy wouldn't be outa sight?!)

Oh, and did I mention it is a Macedonian shield coin???:eek::eek:
    Calm down:stop:. I know:joyful:
I may have to wait until my boys are out of college, but someday one will be mine.
Sadly, as I've made painfully clear, none of these are my images. Pics borrowed from acsearch:
    2529855.m.jpg 173939.m.jpg 107164.m.jpg
KINGS of MACEDON. Philip V. 221-179 BC. AR Tetradrachm (16.46 gm). Helmeted head of the hero Perseus left, harpa over shoulder, in the center of a Macedonian shield; shield decorated with seven eight-pointed stars within double crescents / Club; monogram above, two monograms below; all within oak-wreath, caduceus to left.

So please, shares that dream that lingers in your thoughts after the coin is gone... or share that coin that you didn't think you'd get but eventually did.

(Just showed up in the mail today!!!):woot::smuggrin::D:cool:

Nailed it brother! I almost posted it in your thread but am getting more and more paranoid about posting before having (fairly ironic due to the nature if this thread) as wait times and closures of countries postal systems go up:nailbiting:
    Excellent portrait and toning :artist:

I can see why! That early imperial Roman gold is just so attractive. I believe it is thought that the portraits of Hadrian from Rome are to be considered some of the very best when it comes to artistic craftsmanship... but that portrait as well as that stunning scene on the reverse make this, clearly, a masterpiece.
If I find one in my couch cushions it's yours;)

I dream of owning a Julius Caesar Denarius in VF or EF condition. I personally love the coin with the elephant in reverse, but for a dream coin, would probably have to go with a scarcer reverse.

Oh Sevvvyyy... tell us some stories! :D
    (@Severus Alexander)

If I had a realistic target in mind I wouldn't tell everyone here because it seems to cause a run on them! :sorry:

If money and competition were no object I could take this thread to page 10 with a wishlist.

As Doug says though, the coin I most want is probably one I don't know exists. Or some wording such as that :D.

After looking at all the photos in Pangerl's book on Roman Coin Portraits, I would love to have an aureus from one of the emperors from Augustus through Marcus Aurelius. But as long as money is no object, given that one coin might feel lonely all by itself, why not gold coins of all the emperors through Marcus Aurelius? And the empresses as well?

For Parthian coins, either a tetradrachm of Phraatakes and his mother/wife Musa:
    10200694.jpg
Or else a drachm of Pacorus the ill-fated heir of Orodes II (Formerly known as Pacorus I, now Pacorus the Zeroth):

Of course, who can resist a nice Eid Mar denarius:

Pie in the sky goal - a Titus Colosseum sestertius.

A more realistic goal - a Vespasian Temple of Jupiter sestertius.

    Wish me luck!

My Eid Mar needs to work off its price so I have 'em as door handles on my coin cabinet...
    upload_2020-6-9_22-43-15.png

The only aureus I've ever owned ended up being a fouree... with a chocolate center..

..but I would just browse @AncientJoe 's site .. I would not be able to choose.
