I have one of those Taxila coins stuck in the pipeline since 19 March. I get no word back from the seller in India, hope he did not drop dead from the plague. Here is a Mauryan AR Karshapana, ca. 321-150 BC 321-150 BC Mauryan 1 k obv (5).JPG 321-150 BC Mauryan 1 k rev (5).JPG

I have a couple of tin cash type coins that got stuck in Indonesia in late March. They were returned to the seller which is great, but he hasn't made a refund of given any update on what the deal is with the shipping. I had an Athena Tet that was swiped in transit by the U.S.P.S. recently too. I am sure the COVID confusion made it easier for shady folks to take advantage. The seller took a big loss on that one.

I have a few Mauryan pieces though none have any real interesting punchmarks.

For some reason we don't seem to have had this "non-round" yet - very common coin but a lovely design IMO:

Aha! My sentimental keepsake coin! When we lived in Tanzania in 1972, I used to get one of those same 5-shilingi pieces for my first weekly allowance, if I'd been a good lad. I seem to recall being able to buy a plastic model airplane kit with a single coin. Dunno if that's an accurate memory or not. I was six in '72. Turned seven over there, at the end of that year.

A couple of years ago I was tickled to find an UNC example of the 1972 FAO issue in a bulk World coin bag, though it's only like a three-dollar coin. I sent it off to be slabbed so I could add it to my Eclectic Box collection. So in summary, it cost me less than a quarter, is worth around three bucks, and cost me $45+ in slab fees. Occasionally my collecting is more sentimental than rational.

PS- @coin_nut - I daresay your example looks as nice as the one I had slabbed, if the luster is there.

I have one of those Malwa squares, too. In fact, it's in my Pick Bin [*slow link], meaning it is up for grabs as a prize selection to whomever wins Prize #1 in the present giveaway. (I've also recently added a bunch of ancients to the selection as well.)
