When I first got into ancient coins this was one of the first coins I saw on a dealer website that I always wanted. I always liked the bust of Artemis on it and the overall design of the coin.

Fast forward over 10 years later & I saw this added on Ken's Vcoins Store back in April & bought it.

After eyeing them for a decade, it's nice to finally have one.

I've been wanting one since someone on CT (I think Steve) posted one many years ago. I've not found one for which I'm willing to pay the high price. Congrats @Mat

Often found in hoards in Thrace/Bulgaria. Look for works by Propakov or Paunov. They are hence deemed to have been produced to pay mercenaries along with New Styles , Aesillas and, Marionea, Thasos imitatives . Interesting stuff these hoards.

One of my favorite types. I had to wait awhile to get the one I wanted too, though not as long as 10 years. Congrats on the pickup!

Congrats Mat, I like m too. The concave shape is like a real mini shield.

I will have one eventually. It just hasn't happened yet. Had a near miss, once.

    Some beautiful examples posted.

Is there anything special with some, like @zumbly and @PeteB having little hair curls on the forehead?

This coin type was one I desired from the first days of my collecting. Well, it arrived today :)

Many monograms on this coin. I see they are the same as the ones on @PeteB , @Mat , and @Andres2 examples. Any of you guys can enlighten me about their meaning?

Thanks, Seated J! I never saw
    a Celtic imitation of these!

I got mine in 1990. To me, the appeal was the vex flan fabric matching the concave obverse die. This must have made them easier to strike on center.

    Reverse concave?

A slightly different Celtic imitation. This die is recognizable by the reverse "N" in ΜΑΚΕΔΟΝΩΝ.
