Wow, great looking set! :D Have you sent them in to be graded yet? I'm asking, not because they look fake but because they could potentially be worth thousands of dollars! :cigar: On the 1796 there are three dots, one right in front of her neck and another two at the trunk of her neck.

Admittedly I know nothing about Draped Bust Dimes, but I'm a little confused after reading the description of them in CoinFacts. They describe the 1796 as having 13 obverse stars, while the 1797 contains either 13 or 16.

Thirteen obverse stars are found on the 1796, while the 1797 features either 13 or 16 obverse stars.

But all the 1796 shown in CoinFacts as well as the OP's contain 15. Are there a couple I'm not suppose to be counting?

13 stars represent the original 13 states. Vermont, Kentucky and Tennessee represented by 14-16. Very nice dime collection! As a dime lover, I'm back to 1837 in the Seated and contemplating starting on the Capped Busts despite lacking 33 of the former.

If this was in response to my question about the 13 stars, I am aware of what the stars represent. My question was why the CF description said there were only 13 stars on the 1796 when clearly there are 15.

Great group of Dimes. I have all of those but the 85-S. I had a PCGS40, but sold it with my set in 2016 to Rick Snow. I am now work on the Top 100 set by Gerry Fortin. At one time I had the 1804, but sold it to Harry Labstian. (sp)?

Just to be sure, I went back and checked my handy Bust Dime Variety ID Guide. There are 7 known varieties of the 1796 dime (this one is a JR-2). At least 6 of them have 15 stars (the last one, JR-7, is unique and too worn for me to count the stars).
Therefore, if CoinFacts says 1796 Dimes have 13 stars, it is most likely a mistake.

    .

I have been trying to find an suitable (read: affordable) 1804 Dime for decades, and have almost given up.

The part in my first post that is in bold is a direct quote from CoinFacts. I read the same description on anther site as well. Amazing how much misinformation there is even on reputable sites.

There are 6 known varieties of the 1796 Dime and all 6 have 15 Stars on the obverse. The 1797 has 2 varieties JR-1 has 16 Stars on the obverse and JR-2 has 13 Stars on the obverse.

    I have a 1796 JR-6 Dime and it has 15 Stars.

Beautiful group, Eduard. It's so hard to find the early ones problem free. Well done!
