  1. Couple monts ago I posted a thread whit this same coin but on this thread I have better pictures. So I can prove it is a doubled date. On the back of the coin you can see doubled on fg. I'm not trying to be mean or discourage you in anyway but, you have shown us a lot of 1982 cents you thought were DD and told they were not. If that numeral 2 was truly a doubled die, there'd be more than one in circulation. Why don't you ask the experts? @Fred Weinberg; @JCro57; @furryfrog02; @desertgem; et al. Your coin is not listed on any of the sites that list Doubled Die 1982 Lincoln Cents. If you're so convinced you have a doubled die, read the first page of Wexler's site on how to submit it for verification. Here's how you can contact Mr. Wexler.

If you don't know the site to search for doubled die coins, please let me know and I'll provide a list to you. Good Luck with your hunting. :)

The copper has been breached and the zinc is corroding under the plating. Similar to rust causing the paint on a car to bubble if it was scratched. You can see a number of other areas of corrosion and environmental damage. It IS NOT a doubled die or mint error. It's post mint damage

Mr. Mossillo, Perhaps posting those sites for all CT readers to copy and use as a reference might eliminate SEVERAL threads that take up so much space. I'm not trying to keep people from posting, just to encourage them to dig a little deeper thereby expanding their knowledge base.
    thanks

@alurid posted 2 that are very useful in the next post. And while it doesn't help the OP in this particular case, these links are posted in responses once or twice a week. Sometimes you just don't have the time to put all the details in a response, but another member will usually come along and add it later.

FYI - those links have been shared with the OP in some of his other posts of damaged coins. I'm not sure if he's using them, but he should know about them by now

All the members on here are telling you the truth. The super thin copper plating on your cent is starting to flake and come off . This is what causes it to look this way. If it gets exposed to any more moisture in a short time the zinc core will rot away and then turn into a pile of dust.

Nope. Keep looking because it is fun and you will eventually succeed. I have not found a doubled die yet but keep looking.

Sadly another example of lousy plating issue on crappy Zincolns.

@Phil's Coins. Thank you for your suggestion. If you look at my past posts you'll see how many times that I've posted links to multiple sites to help newcomers. I've not done so lately and that's probably due to my laziness. I'll start doing so again because you're right. If I don't do it, someone may not come after me to post them. Peace :)
