Heh. I was about to say "not with that damage in the left obverse field".

Judging from the visible nicks on the reverse rim, I'm guessing "probably not worth submitting", but certainly worth keeping.

Still looking for my first W quarter from change, never mind privy marks...

In one roll I was rewarded with 3 wheaties and a Roosevelt dime. A while back I also found a Indian Head cent in a roll. A local numismatist advised me to narrow my desire in coin collecting, simply because, if you don't you will find yourself with a lot of clutter and a loss of focus. A garbage in, garbage out kinda thing. I found it to be great and wise advice.

Got another call to roll up some washing machine quarters. $350 netted a sole 2019 AMP-w

I generally don't get boxes from banks to search. But since quarantine, I've managed to find 2 w's from these machines. These are all quarters that people spend in washing machines. I thought the purpose of the 'w' minting was to get people to start looking at their change again. Doesn't seem like too many people care.

Ok here goes my first post! Purchased a $500 box of quarters a few days ago from my very accommodating local bank. My main purpose was to go on the "W" hunt. I have been fortunate previously, since the first of the year, to score five 2019 W's. This time was the big score. The box produced 35 rolls of "P" 2020 Connecticut and 53 individual "W" 2020 American Samoa. I believe I am the first private handler of these 2020 coins. My grading skills are as green as grass but I have to conclude these coins will at least grade AU if not better. On a side note, when I first discovered that I had a potential promising box I rushed to the bank and purchased another box. My discovery so far on this box has produced similar results. I will give a count on that box as well. Happy Hunting!

I am not searching cents right now, just halves and quarters.

What's up with searching rolls for W mint quarters? I haven't been following what the mint does for a long time.

For 2019 and 2020 the mint is making 2 million of each design of quarter with the W mint mark. These quarters are not available through the mint and are put directly into circulation. The only way to get them is in pocket change, or in rolls. Currently the are selling for between $10 - $15 each.

Some cool finds from the cash registers at our local thrift store charity. Monthly, I get to search through their accumulated coins in exchange for dumping them and writing the charity a check. The Merc is a very worn 1924-D. The Wheaties are 1953-S and 1944. The aluminum New Orleans medallion is from Mardi Gras 1973.

The best find is the 1971 silver cameo proof commemorative celebrating the Holy Year at The Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela, wherein lie the relics of the Apostle St. James The Great. One side has an image of St. James, the other of the Cathedral. It is difficult to find info concerning this medallion, but I did find one for sale for 50 Euros. I wish I could find the mintage and silver purity.

Finding it has special meaning for us as the wife and I went on a pilgrimage to Fatima, Portugal and Lourdes, France. We crossed through Spain and stopped at this Cathedral for Mass. Afterwards, they lit and swung the massive thurible (censer) which weighs about 180 Lbs. Many will know of this Cathedral as the destination for those who hike for weeks (or longer) on a pilgrimage known as "The Camino De Santiago". It was made even more familiar in a 2011 movie called "The Way" starring Martin Sheen. As we drove into the city, there were many signs with a clam shell, with the veins of the shell pointing the way to the Cathedral. We saw numerous pilgrims entering the city with their backpacks. As we stood in front of the Cathedral taking pictures, 3 young women hikers in their late teens or early twenties had just arrived. They were very excited and happy to reach the end of their pilgrimage, and asked me to take their picture in front of the Cathedral. The wife and I hope some day to make this pilgrimage. Here's a map showing some of the routes pilgrims take from Europe.

Some sweet finds, TexAg! Put me down for the pilgrimage from Vezelay to the port of call in beautiful Cadiz...........and I'll see you in about 2024, as that's about how long it would take me on foot. And I would be terribly remiss in not giving Ram a hearty congrats on his HH ( that's "historic haul" to the layman ). I had nothing on par with Ram's HH, but about a week ago I reeled in 188 wheats from one lone box. A small handful of them being of the unc red variety. No exciting dates amongst them, but still a very jovial box to navigate. As I was milling thru that last roll, a somber feeling came over me. Almost without fail, every time that I'm blessed with a great box, a severe drought ensues. And sure enough it has happened again. My last 7 boxes have been frighteningly horrible. As fantastic as Ram's last box was, he may not find anything of significant worth until about the time I hit the sandy beach in Cadiz on my pilgrimage.

Finally was able to buy a partial bag ($482) of half dollars from a coin counting machine that I had been monitoring before CoVid-19. I was disappointed when I looked through the bag and didn’t see any silver. But hidden in there were the following:
    1963-D Franklin
    1965
    1969-D
Tomorrow, I hope to buy 1 or 2 half dollar bags from banks in my neighboring town. ;)

    Hi there,...
I’m new to coin roll hunting but I’m pretty sure i found a real find. I asked for registration permission but I’m still waiting for approval. I found what i believe is a 1969 DDOR it’s Red in color and still glossy. There’s a small ding in it tho. I have pictures that I took under a scope. My sons grandfather had been saving pennies for years and years. My son wasn’t interested in messing with them so I started looking threw them classifying the dates. And I had a ton of 1969 that were in rolls. And I find it after hundreds upon hundreds of classifying and scoping. I wish I could post the pics now
