I'm not that experienced but that looks like the san Francisco mintmark. they stopped putting the mint mark on a while ago so any made today would be blank. (i hope he means the mint mark)
Look closely at the die scratches above the E in quarter. Yours may be a different die stage therefore the obverse die may or may not be the same.
Yes ok that part I do see. Its definitely the closest one. U think the mm looks the same? Also if u can I want u to tell me what u think on a 39d I posted
It appears to be the same. The location looks right, interior mark above the lower ball serif looks the same, and the two converging die scratches above the center of the E appear a match. I’ll take a look at your other post.
That's100% correct, this is what most dont get....and yeah say oh i dont see it., or well the pup is on the obv.... Is spot on , and the rev , isnt there.... Die stage or state esspecially coins like shield nickels...omg with less than 10,000 strikes and the die exploded.
@NoahRhino123. Welcome to Coin Talk. The US Mint still puts the S mint mark on coins made at San Francisco. On the quarter, they changed it from the reverse and now it's on the obverse of the coin.
I always check mint mark styles....and why well there are some real rare mm found this one is a trumpet tail used in 1950 You may get lucky and find a new style for that year. Or proof that a certain mm was used for a short mint run.
However.....i always use this example...the 1847/7 lg.cent. This is proof that anything can or could happen at the mint. What is funny early cherry pickers had this image on the front cover ,yet it left it out in the large cent variety section. So when someone sez to me oh that cant happen.....explaine this? No i know what it is.... explaime why? Duh...
