Update - I emptied out my P.O. Box this morning and mixed in with a pile of ValPak coupon mailers and other advertising mail was my QuarterNotes letter - I could feel the quarter inside, but when I got it home and sliced it open - voila! (ecce! for you ancient Romans) - a crisp new $50 - sweet! Thank you for the most generous giveaway, Quarter man ! BTW, the quarter was a 2005 Oregon, counterstamped 'Made While Quarantined'
A friend needed some help to buy necessities.. I payed it foward and gave him my $50.00 plus a little extra. It felt good to help someone in need. I carried my letter with the $50.00 in my backpack for a couple of weeks until the right moment. And it happened!
Good for y'all. That's awesome, @paddyman98! I used one of the Quarter Notes Benjamins I got in my daughter's graduation card. Well, technically I didn't even get her a card. I took the lazy man's route. She was headed out on errands, and I told her to get the C-note out of my wallet on the table (as though I was going to ask her to run an errand). When she asked what I wanted to do with it, I said, "Put it in your pocket. Happy graduation and all that good stuff." (Even though she's much richer than I am at the moment, from tip money and other graduation gifts.) So thank you, Quarter Master and Quarter Notes. You made that gesture easier.
I need to find, gather, and photograph the Quarter Notes counterstamped quarters I have received so far. There must be five at least. Maybe six? As previously mentioned when I left one envelope containing $100.25 unopened for several weeks, I haven't been the best about keeping track and putting them all in one place. I sorely need to organize.
Congrats to your daughter. I’ve got a senior as well, still waiting on cap and gowns. What a strange year.
My daughter turns 18 in 2 days. Also finishing HS and going to Hunter College. She's a very bright girl. I'm glad she's not interested in dating yet. She wants to make money!
Hunter College is a good school. My girlfriend's son earned his PHD in Biochemistry from there last year
This person is firing on all cylinders .It is refreshing to hear that someone is interrupting your day with intrigue and mystery. Plus most of you kept the fun going buy giving part of the intrigue away to others. I am glad that the person that did this can see some of the results. I wish there were a few more people doing this kind of stuff.
@lordmarcovan For those of us who are (southern) geographically challenged... University of Georgia in Athens ??? Congrats!
I have been in coins for longer than I care to remember 63 or 64 hell at my age I am lucky to remember what day it is, In all that time I have never ran across a counterstamped coin of any kind. I do see pics and they are interesting.
Wow, where do I sign up? I like counter stamped quarters and dollars!! Very interesting to get something for nothing get your chicks for free! I couldn't resist with the pun!
