I usuall always carry some collectable with me lately it was a 1875 I/II small S MM Trade dollar that I had thought counterfeit , thanks to ksparrow who attributed it for me , now I just carry around a 1899-O Morgan . Thought it would be nice to find out what coins you others carry around . rzage:thumb:
Um, none? I know that carrying around a 'pocket piece' not unheard of, but I believe that numismatists have a duty to preserve coins, and purposefully carrying them around in one's pockets, thereby causing extra damage, is a no-no for me.
I don't carry anything around with me like that. I have enough stuff in my pockets that I need everyday, I don't think anything extra on me. Plus, if I did I would probably be constantly playing with the coin and not paying attention in class. I don't need anything else to distract me.
Believe me when I found out it wasn't counterfeit it came out of my pocket and into a Intercept Shield , the other coins I carry around are either beat up coins that I usually give to some young kids parents , hopefully to start up a little interest in collecting , I would never carry around a collectable or rare coin , and the ones I do carry around are in 2X2s . rzage
I'm keeping a sacagawea dollar as a pocket piece. Who knows, someday I might be the only collector in the world with a PO-1 SAC dollar.
A bunch of $2 bills. The restaurants I frequent think they are good luck and put them on the wall. Jim
I don't have a pocket piece, but I wear a ring made from a walking liberty half. It was in Vf or so, but in just a year it is worn almost smooth.
Sorry Doug! I thought the dinner flip coin was Jack's but I now see that he was noting that it is your's. Frank
My pocket piece is an 1882-S. It was an XF when I started carrying it about 5 years ago. You can tell which side I "thumb". lol................ John
