FWIW - I think he makes good enough points to not buy this coin unless it was authenticated and slabbed. All of the coins I'm looking at even very worn have traces of dentrite. Ruben
If you look at the two different 1807's pictured in post #16 you'll see that neither shows any denticles. Also, the B-1 pictured in post #18 which is AU has such weak denticles that are so close to the rim that it wouldn't take much wear at all to make them disappear. I don't see that the presence or absence of denticles is determinative in the determination of authenticity. BTW, check the noses in both of the worn specimens in post #16; they're both worn round, so that isn't necessarily a way to tell if it's authentic.
16 is the one I posted and see dentrites. 18 - I also see dentrites. The one just above, I can't see dentrites on the far right one...but I can't see the darn coin at all it is so dark. Why would the bust have the uneven ware and yet that section have not a trace of dentrites? Ruben
