I've been setting aside different notes at work lately and was wondering if any are worth picking up. Miscellaneous small faced FRN's and star notes. Heres what I have so far. 3 x Series 1993 $50's in XF-AU 1 x Series 1990 $20 in VF-XF 1 x Series 1998 $50 Star note in VF-XF Any keepers here? I'm thinking they are all probably run of the mill notes, but I don't want to let them go and find out otherwise. Thanks for your insight everyone.
The only one of real note (no pun intended!) is the $50 star. The others, not so much, unless they are from rarer runs.
Well...you better check that note again. There is no such thing as a Series 1998...There is however, Series 1988, 1990, 1993, 1996, 2001, 2004, 2004A, and 2006. Let us know and post a pic!! RickieB
I'll have to double check that next week when I work. I know that its the style bill that was released to replace the old small face FRN's and was just replaced by the colorful new style.
It is probably 1996 then, that was the first of the "big head" $50 notes and the only series of that style from the 1990s. With that note, find out the serial number and issuing bank and we can give you more information about the rarity of the note. Also, double check the series. Assuming it is a 1996, only a few banks issued star notes. Using the 2 letters before the serial, you can determine the bank: AB: New York AG: Chicago AJ: Kansas City AL: San Francisco
