whilst searching through 220 pre- 60 nickels some weird finds...

ok, besides packaging most up for younger collector's to fill holes in albums...found some errors (which i did identify) and some that i have a question mark on, though one i think is a pmd, but not quite sure, ok..here they are with the known one's first:

1946-s small lamination between 9 and 4 in date:

It could be a minor Lamination Crack.
They are common on older Nickels and Cents.

 

1946-s with lamination under building by Monticello on reverse:

 

1946-s doubling of liberty and date (a known variety) :

 

a 1941 "large"-S (which i compared to the 11 or so that were not in this lot):

 

2-Jefferson's which the alloy does not look mixed properly as there are multi-colored streaks running through the coin, much as on a Lincoln "woody"---this may not show too good on photos,but is def. noticeable in hand

 

this one i am not so sure of.."improperly annealed planchet" or "black beauty" but with seeing all the md finds, do not know for sure, most likely is not...

 

ok, that was first of question marked coins...Paddy, need your opinion on the beauty, and also the following 2/...one i think is pmd, next coin with cut on rim and pushed up metal,

 

this next one looks like a "partial clip" or "partial improperly prepared planchet" it does not appear to be pmd to me, i am hoping..so need your opinion on this one...please Paddy!

 

ok, last of the 220 coin hoard lot searching...this one looks like mr jefferson been doing some remodelling, last window (or portico) to the right of building, me thinks pmd, but, ya never know, right, this is why i need your valued opinion sir, here goes:

 

ps. also noted the doubled liberty and date has severe ghosting of jefferson's head on reverse..

 

The ghosting happens from an overused die and the die clearance is a little too close. The doubling is going to be die deterioration doubling.

 

well, done now, did the last 70 or so (i had previously sorted them into decades, then by date, mint mark and put in 2 x 2's and graded, to be priced later..nothing interesting, heck, i even let about 8 go back into the wild due to gouges and scratches and stuff....thanks for reading..and be safe everyone
