Have a small box of world coins, I can figure out what country they are from but that is about all I know. Have maybe a hundred or so all from Europe and in pretty decent shape. Any info would be helpfull! Thanks

They are both Spanish Colonial reales from Mexico City, the first is 2 reales, the second is 8 reales. I'm guessing your lighting is giving them that strange color? The 2 reales looks rather crudely made.

The 8 r. is an odd color, whats the base material for these coins?

You should weigh them and post the weight (grams) and also take several pics of the edge of the 8 Real and post them. With those, the experts here can properly tell if it's authentic or not. ;)

    Ribbit :)

Both should be about 90% silver.

The 2 reales is a fake. The 8 reales I think is also fake, but I am not good enough at portrait reales to say for certain. If the 8 reales were real, it would price upwards of $100 in that condition according to Krause.

I think the 2 R is a modern fake, whereas the 8 R is probably an old (contemporary) one, made for circulation. The 8 R looks like bronze or copper with a silver plating.
