Continental Currency Restrike- Any information?

I have heard my coin is a restrike of some sort. I know nothing of this particular piece. I would love to know more about this. Also what is this worth. Any information appreciated.:smile

Bashlow is famous for the confederate cent restrike about the same time. The suggestion is that David Bowers was involved also, but I can't find anything specific. These still sell on Ebay for under $20 to some who have them graded and want $$$. Your's look like it is the "white metal" variety that wasn't advertised in the url I gave above, but it is said that 7000 were struck in aluminum or other metal for the Boy Scouts. What for, I don't know. Hope this helps! Or it may be the silver, but would expect a different sheen. There is a thread on the Bashlow cent on the site also.

Wish I could help But I know almost nothing of our very early coinage , but in 1960 they restruck some from hubbed dies , also copies were also struck for the 1876 Centennial Exposition , yours is probably one of the latter . But wait for the real experts .

My continental currency is it genuine?

I have this continental currency piece which I was told is a restrike. Does anyone have any more information? Thanks so much in advance.

I bought this for $33, a seemingly fair price.

 

Not a bad price at all for a decent restrike from over 125 year old dies , do you have any idea the metal yours is .

the dealer who I purchased this from said it was probably pewter ( I would say it's probably white metal).

I just examined mine closely and it is certainly white metal (no "s" on reverse) What a great coin.

 

Isaiah, you got a very good deal in my opinion. I would have readily bought it also. Now all you have to do is to collect the other 3

Rather odd, but I have the white metal one also, and have thiought of getting the silver one also. It should be mentioned that they don't have "copy" on the coin.

it looks like a 21 Morgan

 

So this was restruck in the 1960's with a 200 year old die or was it a master? Because looking a the coin I have serious doubts.
