My wife thought that it would be 50 -50 as to whether the show would be held. Now it's official. It's been canceled. I never thought that I would become mostly an Internet buyer, but that’s the way it’s going to be for the foreseeable future. The good part is that I am now collecting mostly imperial Roman and hammered English. In those areas, you can tell a lot from good photographs, unlike U.S. coins were Mint State grades and especially Proof coins are reduced to expensive hairsplitting. Oh well, my planned exhibit goes into mothballs until who knows when. It takes a fair amount of time and effort to put a good one together. Maybe I’ll think of way to present virtually here.
As a Floridian, I must that I'm relieved; having attendees fly in from all over the country could have been disastrous from a public health perspective.
For the next few months, that's true. For the long term, things can't continue like this. The economy will shrink and modern life as we know it will be gone. Perhaps for old guys like me it’s going to be stay home or die, but for the younger generations, they will have to develop natural antibody defenses as it has been through out history.
Yeah, but how will much of Florida survive without such tourism? Things like FUN are nothing compared to DisneyWorld, etc anyway.
Would it be something you could take pictures of and do a write-up to post here? I'm sure lots of people would like to see it.
Thank goodness. As a dealer I couldn't even conceive of the logistics necessary to pull this off and keep everyone safe. I just don't understand why it took them this long to figure it out.
They rode the Baltimore Whitman Show until like a week before it was supposed to open. And that was in the beginning of this whole mess when we still had no idea how bad it was going to get.
That show would have made no difference for that, it was canceled because basically no one would go/enough dealers said no
Sorry, in this case you may not know as much as you think. I overheard part of the conversation over the decision. You can read about in when the FUN Board issues a statement.
If you're trying to argue the show was canceled over health concerns of people traveling how many bridges would you like to buy lol. That show would have had basically zero health impact especially with opened states and opening states, if that was their logic well then that was their logic as misguided as that would be
You keep hoping against hope that this crap will end. That's why they waited until 6 weeks before the event to pull the plug.
I have not said ONE THING about the reason the show was cancelled except that you are mistaken. It is not my place to comment on what I know. As I posted, you have no idea why that show was cancelled or anything that was taking place regarding the show. I will give you this much credit, you know if you were going and anyone you were able to speak with. What's that, thirty people including yourself? I'm pulling your chain Baseball because I hate misinformation. I wish they had it and I would have attended. Wait until the press release in the trade publications. .
Wow, had a weird case of ... I don't know what you would call it. One of you two, @Insider @baseball21 need to post a pic, or something. It looked like one member was having an argument with himself. Do either of you have a coin pic you like? A dog?
It's not rocket science unless of course financial reasons or couldn’t get a venue. There’s only so many reasons it could be canceled and I was replying to the person claiming it was for health reasons But sure
All my saints were purchased on-line. Pictures are so good now that I hardly have to send any back. Hairlines & luster can be an issue but it doesn't effect my set much. That was confusing me for the same reason.
Seems like he has been set to ignore by quite a few people lately lol. I was having the same issue not understanding what was being talked about because he is on my ignore list as well.
