Wow, I really want to get one of those high relief double eagles...but with a student budget it just isn't possible. I guess it goes on that "someday gotta get one" list.

If you buy anything from the Mint you get put on their mailing list. I believe you can also request to be placed on their mailing list without buying anything.

Thanks. I did get a 2008 silver set but I think I should call tomorrow anyway. That raised eagle looks grand. Again, thanks zg

Indeed, the Eagle does look grand, but what's the odds the price is well over a grand?

Wonder if this will be a one year only release or will it continue each year? If it is multi year will the mint start offering in fractional sizes (and we would have 3 lines of gold bullion coins)? Will it be offered in proof and uncirculated (so far haven't all modern issues had an uncirculated issue too?)?

The price on that high-reliefer will likely give me gastritis!!

    But it looks great nonetheless...

I guarantee that isn't right. You could buy three real St Gaudens high reliefs in high MS grades for that amount. I'm betting it'll be around 1100 minimum.

Does the coin look extra thick? I got my catalouge and it looks good. I wonder whent they will let the price out.

Am I the only one who will pass on these high relief coins? Personally - just my opinion - the coin is ugly. At least with the thickness.

You're not alone. If I'm going to pay 1000 bucks on gold, it's going to be a numismatic coin, not a bullion coin. I don't think they look bad. But, I don't care for the cupped shape design. I find it hard to believe that it is St Gauden's original vision, looking like a small cereal bowl and all.

It's supposed to be a one year only issue. But of course if it sells real well. . .

This is great ..we need a few more people to say they are ugly and hopefully, that might turn people off so that there will be more for me.

How can you call a one year issue/design a bullion coin?...this has numismatics written all over it...big freaking time !!!

I just hope that I don't get laid off until after I get to buy one.

    Make mine frosted flakes ....hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaaha
