That's a great explanation. I went on was as a preteen. I was at camp for a week when I was 12. They took us into the woods just after dark so you couldn't see a thing. Everyone had a bag and we all had to rub something smelly on us. Once we were all in place along a trail they gave us the word and we started making noises, as loud as we could. 2 or 3 caught one, but they turned out to be chickens. It was great as a young boy but it's funny as can be today. Camp was great that year.
We have taken our Cub scouts out on a couple of late night Snipe hunts on our last few camp outs. They always get "sooooooooooooo close" to catching one. But amazingly, those snipes always get away
