I recently bought this coin and found it to have raised images on both sides of the coin and what appears to be doubled die lettering "In God We Trust". It was listed as a BU GEM. I thought to send it to ANACS for an evaluation, but thought I'd check with you guys and get your thoughts on it before I do anything.
I gave you the best photo views that I could.

    Thanks

This coin is not a BU GEM. I think it would be a waste to send it to ANACS for an evaluation. It's genuine but in my opinion, it's just not worth it. I think what you are seeing is caused by the number of times the coin had taken a small hit or ding.

Looks like your dollar coin may have a nice die clash showing on it. If this is the case it may have quite a bit of extra value , Die clashes on dollar coins seem to be hard to find. I can't say for sure from just looking at the photos but it sure does look like a die clash . A die clash is when the dies comes together without a planchet between them . This causes some of the reverse images to be transferred to the obv. die and vice versa.

Not seeing anything that resembles an obvious clash. Where do you see it?

VAMworld doesn't list any reverse clashed dies. There are only listings for 4 obverse clashes.

I have you on my ignored list but I will reply to this one anyway . I can see what looks like plenty of evidence of a die clash on both sides of the OP'S coin. More so on the reverse side. If someone is not a die clash collector they can easily not recognise them. Look near the bottom of both sides of the eagles wings , top of it's head and the line coming off the top of one wing. There are probably plenty of other things that the camera never picked up. During a die clash both dies get's damaged and the coins they produce will show the clashed evidence until one of the dies get's swapped out . If this is a strong clashed die coin the reverse die was probably swapped out right away because of the die damage would have been easily seen.

Under the G in "in god we trust" , and next to the laurel leaves left of the eagle.

OP, if you bought this as a gem BU, send it back.

Now why would you advise the op to send this coin back ? If this is a very scarce die clash coin it may be worth many more times than was paid for it. I'm very close to sure from what I can see in the pics. of it being a die clash coin.

Die clashes are common on morgan dollars, there are very few worth extra money.

You sure do have a lot to learn about die clash coins. Some certain dollar die clash coins are rare and highly sought after . I went on a website about Morgan dollar die clashes and this 1884 0 coin was not listed. So it may be the discovery piece, this would make it very valuable. I looked at a Morgan dollar overlay and now I'm 100 % certain that the op's coin is a nice die clash coin with a very strong easy to see clash . Actually I think the dies were clashed twice .. What happened to the op ? Looks like a few members told him or her the coin was just from damage and the op never showed back up. I hope they don't get rid of this coin from the first info. they received here because it could be a rare date one.

Do you know how to check on a member's posts? He posted today. Wonder if @paddyman98 could take a look.

I just checked the VAM out and Troy is right. I sent an email requesting the coin be returned to me. I have no more photos than what I've already posted on here.
