In addition to the 1,945 limited mintage End of WWII Gold AE's the US Mint announced it will be producing 75,000 Proof Silver version. No release date was given. Even though the mintage is higher, I wonder if this will be as bad as last year's fiasco.

Won't be as bad as it's 2 1/2 times the mintage of the 2019-S.

No, not at all! Although there are a ton of American Silver Eagle collectors I'm not one of them. Some of them look great like the reverse proofs and all but I'm more of a Token and Gold coin collector. :D

75,000 compared to 30,000 doesn't warrant mentioning IMO.
I did get one of the 2019 'coveted' ASE's.
This offering isn't nearly as attractive to me.

I forgot, these are American GOLD Eagles so demand will be less.

Could be a replay of the Kennedy 2014 (?) 3/4 oz. gold coin that traded at a rich premium but fell very rapidly, I believe.

I have everything up through 2018 and then I stopped. The US Mint is just putting out too much stuff. Just like in 2000 when I quit collecting US stamps. But businesses are just flooding us with ballast and wallpaper. The premium that you pay the mint will never be realized. But, that is not an issue with most collectors. But, adding so many new products does dilute the hobby.

Will it be a silver eagle? Coin World also has an article on the gold eagle, and in that one it says

    So which will it be?

I agree with the "$70" comment. That's way too much to pay for an ounce of silver, with or without a fancy little stamp on it.

A very good cause, but overpriced. I will pass.

If it’s a medal, they can keep it.

@dwhiz. You don't have to be concerned about keeping the set up to date. In my OP, as another member pointed out, I failed to mention it's a medal and not a coin.

It’s a medal because the Mint didn’t realize in time this is the 75th anniversary of the end of WWII. They were busy relegating white male basketball players to a wheelchair with their ugly, useless and offensive basketball commemorative.

I have all the modern silver and clad commemoratives up through 2018. I stopped getting new stuff from the mint because there was just too much new stuff coming out. I didn't like a lot of them and decided to end my set right there. It started to take on the direction of Beanie Babies.

I'll no doubt stop collecting silver eagles this year...enough of the weird and expensive carnival of coins for me.

You left out "maybe" in your poll, but I doubt very much if I'd be a buyer as I've been turned off by all of the hype the Mint has been putting out.
