Hi guys good morning! I just wondering why the color is like this and has extra letters front and back...
The coin is damaged and worth one cent. Thecextra letter in AMERICA is Damage and that color is caused by toning and the environment. Damaged, damage and damaged.
I’m new about coins And maybe your expert because since you was a kid This is already your hobby! That’s super big advantage there!
When you can't tell the difference between a scratch and a letter, you're in serious trouble. It has nothing to do with being an expert. ~ Chris
OH WHAT HORROR! I just spent 10 minutes at Etsy and everything they called a "Mint Error" is actually not! And the prices they are asking for are horrendous! I will never ever visit there again! Those people listing on Etsy don't know the difference between a real error and damage. I feel nauseated now I wish someone would of warned me! I think I'm going to have nightmares tonight (Wait.. did I just quote myself? )
Maybe we should post some damage coins on Etsy and under cut the other sellers. Just joking so please don't take my comment seriously.
The 1981 cent is just beat-up and has damage that makes it look weird. The 1974 is a valid error, if you only see the offset on the front, it is a MAD (Mis-Aligned Die) and isn't really worth anything. If it is offset on both the front and back, it is an off-center strike and would have some premium value, although it isn't much off-center and not worth too much. Working in healthcare, you must have run into some crotchety old men, so please forgive us. Mostly trying to be humorous.
You and Collecting nut is very nice people. Chris is different he was rude even I was laughing at rascal About the coins found in parking lot. Also he is super judgmental. I think I’m done! But I wanna thank you and collecting nut and some nice men here who try to teach me and advice I really appreciate it...
Is that the reverse of the one you posted above? See how it is a little off-set too? That means it is a slight off-center strike. I see some Machine Doubling on some of the letters (O in ONE) see how it is flat and shelf like.
