I can't wait to see who will be lucky(?) enough to get one of these when the US Mint starts selling them:

Here's a link to the complete article in Coin World Magazine:https://www.coinworld.com/news/us-c...le-gold-issue-marking-anniversary-of-wwii-end
With such a small mintage I'm going back on my vow of not buying anything from the US Mint. I couldn't get in on the last fiasco they caused but you never know!

Wonder if they'll do the standard free-for-all ordering, or if they'll have the sense to institute an actual lottery?

Either way, I'm pretty confident in predicting the result:

About 45 will be sold directly to people who actually want to have and keep the coin.

About 1,900 will be sold to dealers, either directly, or through their straw buyers, or through speculators. (Not to imply that the dealers themselves aren't speculators, too.)

About 19,450 indignant posts about the whole process will appear on forums and social media.

The Mint will declare another great success.

I presume you swore off the Mint for the 2019-S ASE debacle, and now you're going back not because of a quality product available to all....but another limited-quanitity ripoff that teed you off in the first place ??

Your presumption is correct. The difference this time is when I'm shut out, I will not be upset because I don't expect to get one. :D

The US Mint has not given a release date for any of it's new products.
In addition to the 1,945 gold American Eagles the US Mint is also going to produce 75,000 Silver Eagles marking the 75th Anniversary of the end of WWII. Also, no release date for that. Going to start a new post for that.

Are you sure about that? See the last line of the Coin World article.

Please excuse my error in not pointing out that it's going to be a medal. By law, only 2 commemorative coins can be issued each year and 2 have already been mandated by Congress. Medal or coin doesn't matter to me as I wasn't going to buy it.

Actually the law says two commemorative coin programs, the V75's probably wouldn't be considered a "program".

Were they? They specifically say that the schedule shows the coin, and they say the schedule is wrong. Is it possible they have spoken to someone at the Mint and have been told by them that it will be a medal? Is there an ultra high relief gold coming out this year? I don't know, but if there is it could be V75 related and since the silver version comes as a medal that might be what they are talking about and the schedule is right.

Most likely yes they were or got bad information. There may be some sort of medal as well coming that could have been a source of confusion for the author.

There's almost no chance the mint would mock up a product/packaging that isn't going to exist and put it on the website, put a price on it, have descriptions specifically stating it's a proof ASE, and leave it up for weeks and weeks.

If there was a mistake it would have almost certainly come down by now or several people that are responsible for the site need to be fired.

There's not much of a reason to believe it wouldnt be on an ASE when it's going to be on gold coins
