I have ten of the 1947 crowns. They’re all from the same original roll and have lovely yellowish toning.

I picked this one up recently only because it was like $10 over spot.

Absolutely beautiful design that I NEVER get tired of. Compare the handling of Balboa to the US presidents on the "golden" presidential dollars!

Here is the obverse of the 1982 piedfort half Balboa gold pattern obverse

They’re not super expensive, even for the large 90% silver ones.

I'm guessing it would be the silver pattern PnB4 (since they didn't make proof sets in 1953?) - but I'm really not sure if NGC would classify it as MS, SP, or PF - looks proof like, so maybe I'll guess 66PL with whatever the appropriate prefix would be. :)

How'd you come across that piece? Any idea of the mintage?

Alex, what is the 500 year anniversary of Balboa discovering what is now known as Panama?

Edit: proof cam 65 on the 1953 above.

My sorry pictures, yea, you guys are too smart as it is the silver proof of the 1953 one centesimo and graded proof 66. Can't remember if it got the plus. I would imagine probably less than 25-30 pcs. minted. I got it maybe 2-3 years ago for something like 350 dollars which I thought was a decent price.
