    Lately we've seen a number of these. Most are just high school science experiments but there are also genuine ones. As you can see I only paid $1.00 for it at my LCS but I can assure you without looking it up that they cost more originally.

    This is a JFK 24 kt. Gold plated Half Dollar. It commentates the 25th anniversary of his election to the office of the presidency. It is dual dated and 1960 the year he was elected, is above IN GOD. 1985 is just above WE TRUST which is 25 years, hence the anniversary.

    The second photo says it all. Please read it carefully. This is not original government packaging. The half is from the Mint, as it reads, issued by the United States Mint. It's also numbered so there are a number of them out there. Maybe that's why we've seen a number of them.

    Amazing what one can do with an electroplating machine and some metal stamps. Try and create your own "special" coin issue.

    I have found probably a full roll of these when I searched half dollars.

    I wonder how many microns of gold were used? It must be no thicker than the line shown below.......
