I went to one of the dealers I visit, the one in the flea market down the street from me, and I picked up what hopefully are nice buys. Didn't spend any money on coins except for the one coin, the big coin (hopefully), I traded for. The coins I got were: A 1914-S, hopefully XF (that's where I'd like your guys' help ) and a 1949 Lincoln Cent, BU, with real nice toning. I saw the 14-S, and I am pretty sure it will go XF, but I'm not positive, lol, and that's where I'd like ya'lls input. Please post your thoughts on it's grade, value, and how much you would pay, if you'd like. Or you can just say nice coin, lol. Here's the coin: Phoenix
hmm Nice Coin! for sure. XF.. I don't think so IMO. a VF though for sure. still a super nice coin though Tyler
Indeed, a very nice coin for you to have cherrypicked. The grade, well, hmmm, I am not so great at this particular subject, mostly because I tend to under grade. Yours is at least a Very Fine, or even an Extremely Finel Seems also to have been struck quite strong. The milk chocolate color is really great. Gotta get myself up from the chair and try go get some sleep. jeankay
Very nice coin. I'd put it at a VF-35. I would think it would run around $50-60 ? Tough call as there is a $50 spread between VF20 & XF45. And whatever the dealer graded it at ....John
I would say without a doubt a VF 35 .there;s wear on the cheek area , and there;s wear on the wheat stalks in the right one ,so that will take it down to a VF . NICE COIN even through Jazzcoins Joe
Haha, thanks for the replies guys! It is a very fine looking coin (pun intended of course ), IMHO. I've been looking more and more at it, and it is atleast a 35, but I still think it might go XF, it's one of those coins. The reverse is actually a tad nicer than my XF 14-S, pic: IMO, of course. But I do think the XF 14-S is nicer, where I'll sell the other, haha. If the other was an XF, then I'd probably do it vice versa, lol, but I think I'll keep my original. Thanks for the replies guys! Phoenix
Yep, it makes it, just barely, but it makes it, lol. It's a nice coin, was wanting to maybe go nicer though, but oh well. I can't complain. Phoenix
I give the 1914S at the top of the thread a VF. I give the 1914S at the bottom of the thread an XF. Two different coins, two different mm positions, two different grades. Very best regards, collect89
