This well-worn New Style is a typical coin most often found in Thracian coin hoards along with Prow, Eagle on Thunderbolt and Tripod from the middle 120's BC.
They are often well worn from long circulation before being hoarded.
The Athens mint was under great pressure and this obverse is well worn. The reverse though is nice having both controls visable. Why Athens minted such coins that ended up in Thrace we don't know but can guess the Romans told them to supply coins to the Thracians either as pay for mercenaries or as a bribe to keep them from marauding. At this stage the New Style can be viewed as a Roman Proxy Coinage.
