Hi, fellows! A few months ago I found some coins from my grandfather. All of them were worthless, but I found a 1974's Kennedy Half Dollar. As far as I know, some of these are famous because they were struck on a Yuan planchet and are worth some money, but I know nothing about coin and I couldn't possibly know in a thousand years, so I'm here to be enlightened. It is probably a regular half dollar coin, but I'm sure any of you can confirm me. I hope the pics are just fine—otherwise ask me for more. The edge is kind of split in two, with a copperish-like part and a silver-ish one. Thanks!
Welcome to CoinTalk! I think your coin is just a regular half dollar. A real struck-on-Taiwan-$5 coin is slightly smaller than the regular half dollar. You can compare to the following 2 examples in Heritage auction. https://coins.ha.com/itm/errors/197...5-yuan-pieces-for-the-republic-o/a/422-7650.s https://coins.ha.com/itm/errors/197...wan-5-blank-ms64-ngc-96-grams/a/60151-91516.s
That what clad planchets look like. Cupro-Nickel overba copper core. Take any modern Quarter or Dime and you will see the same thing.
