Those carbon spots kill that coin and the coin is not graded by a third party so it is a guess for all... it also would be a lot better if there was straight On picture of the obverse and reverse...

Hard to tell without it in hand but I'd give it an AU55BN

You people claiming XF and even AU are literally delusional. I like to post these GTG's sometimes to see the wide range of opinions on coins. Always very interesting. Even with carbon spots, this coin is a stunner is person.

Okay, I just noticed the beard details, I was going by the reverse and only parts of the obverse

    AU-UNC Details sounds about right

Nice beard and hair details. 1916 was a good year for well struck cents. The coin shows signs of circulation. From these images, I'm at AU details.

I definitely see wear on the cheekbone and jaw. I’m gonna say AU55.

Maybe it's a Matte Proof? :hilarious: :hilarious:

BTW: did you ever get that 1909 back from grading yet???

Nope. Haven't gotten the money for grading fees yet. Robec did approve of my die marker pictures through our personal e-mails, so that's a huge positive!

Regarding this coin.....my guess is PF64BN, and if it's a business strike I would say MS65BN.

People saying AU, XF, Details, or not uncirculated...are just falling victim to my horrible photography skills. In person you could tell this coin is BU from across the room with the lights off.

    I don’t think it’s a proof. Rims don’t look right.

There definitely appears to be luster breaks on the high points. I see matte areas on the cheek bone and jaw. That would indicate wear. Based on that, I would call it an AU.

it’s a wonderful looking coin overall. Shame there are copper spots but I don’t believe this coin is MS.

Well, how about better pics. if you post a coin for grading? We can't see it across the room. :)

Uummmmm...... Why are we doing a GTG with a coin in a 2X2?

Haha. Cause I'm too lazy to re-2x2 it. This coin will eventually be slabbed, and I will eventually update this thread. Hang tight.
