I didn't realize there was such a thing? That sounds interesting! :thumb: Ribbit Ps: Does it get moved if it gets answered?
Hey Craig! :hail: I'm a member of ScubaBoard (or was) and I got out of the profession a couple of years ago and haven't posted since but I was in it for 15 years so I lasted a little longer than most. After several thousand salt-water dives and interesting critters, it's hard for me to dive the local lakes, although I do enjoy spearfishing but I can't bring myself to do it again, since there isn't as much to see in the lakes compared to salt water. :kewl: However, the old saying about a bad day diving beats a good day at the office, will always be true but now the "office" is what pays the bills, not diving. So now I've turned my interest to collecting again, which I did when I was young but got off it until I returned stateside from my days of fun in the sun. I'll hop back on ScubaBoard one of these days to see what's happening. Great Board! :thumb: Ribbit
I'm telling! Best hit youknowwhere first or you'll end up in the Brig with Frank & whatshisname? So now we are Posers? Where is Emperor Ardy when you need him? :goof: Ribbit
Here's a perfect example of a hit-and-run member: http://www.cointalk.org/showthread.php?t=26660&highlight=intelligent 2 posts and out! :goof: Ribbit
Kind of off topic but I would like to comment. Coin related? Maybe there were forms of coins on that craft. Anyway I have researched this extensively including reading several books both pro and con. I read autopsy reports on the alien bodies and saw pics taken of them. Supposedly one survived and was executed? I read a summary of what the undertaker had to say after he picked up the bodies with the funeral home hearse. Others involved were sworn to secrecy, the farmer, the cops, the air base personel. I read what the guys said who actually moved the boxes into the hangar. And you know what? I have no conclusion to make. It all could be true and it all could be a big hoax.
you guys may or may not even remember me.... But its been a while since ive been active on here. For me, I started getting to the point in my collecting where for me to be satisfied and happy with a coin for my collection I would need to blow upwards of 75 dollars. So i could buy maybe 5 coins a year AT MOST. So i would go to a show all happy with my 100 dollars, buy one coin that i needed for my type set and then be done, and out 75 dollars. Now, of course, I loved the coin I bought and it was beautiful to look at. But the hobby kind of lost that thrill of the hunt, which is what got me into collecting in the first place, roll searching... But then roll searching wasn't enough, so i moved on and on and it kept growing and growing, until i couldnt afford it any more. So i tried to find another hobby where the thrill of the hunt still exists. I found sports cards and through the mail autographs. With sports cards, you could buy a 2 dollar pack and maybe pull out a 500 dollar card. And with through the mail autographs, I always run to my mailbox whenever i get home hoping that someone I sent an autograph request to was kind enough to return it. I love that aspect of any hobby, the thrill of the hunt. But with sports cards, I joined another forum and at first really enjoyed it, but the more i participate the more i see it is for the money and most people dont really enjoy what they collect. Now every once in a while I come back to this forum and remember the good times i had here. Hopefully at some point, I can somehow find a way in coin collecting to get that "thrill of the hunt" that I always yearn for. Well, thats my story..... monkeyman
Some members WERE on the older side and have just passed on you know. Not long ago I too almost passed on. Had stage 4 cancer but beat it otherwise I too would not be here. Unfortunately coin collecting is rather an old peoples hobby due to all the computer games and more important things for younger people today. Even with cable TV there are way to many things on to watch rather than discuss things like coins. If you go to coin shows you would see about 90% over the ages of 50 and many, many way up there in age. Not really a thing for kids today although there are some due to the Mints push on state quarters and such, it just fades away slowly. Then too I know of several others that have moved on to other web sites where they do not have to scroll back and forth to read a post. I too have gone to other web sites more and more due to this. Scrolling back and forth to read a post gets annoying and since this is the only one that does that, I'm sure others too have moved on to other coin forums.
they're out there doing something. I rarely log on and find more than 15 or so posters in each forum. That's about 30-40 people daily when I log on. Where are the rest of 'em? Do lurkers get counted as active players? :secret:
It's hit or miss with myself. I never know what hours or days I'll be home or at work, and a lot of times when I am at home it's only for 6 hours, then I'm at work again. Monkeyman....I have boxes and boxes and even more boxes of sports cards in my garage I've been trying to figure out how to get rid of. You come get them and they're yours. Otherwise, I see a backyard bonfire in the near future. Guy~
I know what you are talking about. The Morgans I need are getting in the price range where I can only pick one up a few times a year. It may be time to get back to the basics and buy some less expensive coins but be pickier on quality or varieties. I here the three cent nickels calling again. I still really enjoy the people in the hobby, here in particular, though and that is what keeps me coming back day after day.
I have never had to scroll exept up and down like any other forum...I take a break here and there, get more or less active as time allows...I can usually come here at least once a day most days...50 times if there is something interesting me.
what ever your career track is, I want it. I was in Stacks today and they wouldn't even recognize me. Very humiliating Ruben
