This is not an offer to sell. I am cleaning out my office and have many back issues of CDN GREYSHEET which I have a hard time throwing away. These were expensive, and I would prefer to put them into the hands of another who would use the data for research purposes, but I do not want to find out they were sold, whether for a profit, or even to get one's money back. Why? Because CDN prohibits the resale of this information, even after it has gone stale. If you would like these back issues, please contact me by 5/17/20. I ask only that you cover my shipping costs. Now, if you want to buy coins, that's another thing entirely . First come, first served. Mike at ToughCOINS.com
Mike, if you don't get somebody who is better at using the data, I might have interest. But I'll defer to someone more experienced even though I would love to have a written source for price quotes. How far back do your letters go ?
A casual look reveals piles from 2009, 2015, 2018 & 2019. Who knows how many more I may find hanging around here . . .
Mike, I would like to have some of the latter ones. I forget their size, but what ever you can put into a priority box. I would also yield if someone has a real great idea and need them. Jim
That would be GREAT if we could all get the scans. I would have a fairly recent bid-price on Saints and High Reliefs.
I wasn’t serious about it. Scanning documents takes so much time that people usually hate it. It’s also likely that it’s prohibited to scan/copy them.
As I told another member in a PM, I believe much older issues only prohibit reprinting explicitly, and not resale. However CDN has, at least as far back as the oldest issue of the new format, taken the stance that the CDN may not be reproduced or resold in any format. If one wants to take the chance that he / she won't spend a lot defending their case, that's their business.
Well, whoever gets the newsletters, I hope they will just spend a few minutes giving me prices/quotes on Saint-Gaudens MS65's and maybe another grade or two, for both commons and 1907 HR's. That will avoid any legal entanglements.
I'd probably sit on at least the 19 and to be safe the 18 longer or recycle it. The 09 and 15 they probably wouldnt really care about, the 19 is close enough though that it doesn't seem worth the risk of getting banned from them
I don't know if I've ever seen a Greysheet, can't remember. I think I got a sample one a few years ago, not sure. I've seen the dealers have it at local coin shows. Is it just prices, or does it have a few articles on any sectors that are hot, i.e., Saints or Morgans ?
ALL of the issues of the CDN from 1963 to 2013 are available on the Newman Numismatic Portal. https://nnp.wustl.edu/Library/Periodicals#C
As an author I have learned that the original copyright lasts for 28 years and can be renewed for 28 years. Most major publishers do renew. After that there are special extensions that can be taken out. The reprint public domain publishers generally will not touch anything newer than 75 years old to avoid fines and law suits. There are also international copyrights that can be obtained but private publishers of their own writings rarely do that. Copies by scan or Xerox are allowable legally for only one purpose. That being scholastic research. If you have scholastic research copies they can be quoted but not copied and definitely not reproduced and sold. Copying is getting tighter. I recently made some copies of one of my shorter works at kinko's and the store manager came running up and tried to make me stop until I showed my ID to prove that I was the author. All of my coin related work is currently out of print and I'm not interested in making copies for anyone. Hope that this answers your question.
Hi Jim @desertgem , I assume you referred to a flat rate box. The more recent issues (2018, 2019) measure 9" x 11" x 1/4". As flat rate boxes go, that's got to be one of the larger ones. I imagine I can comfortably fit a dozen copies into the box. To get an estimate for shipping cost, what is your postal code? Mike
Jim has expressed interest in what I can fit in a flat rate box, which is roughly one year of the new format. That leaves me with more than enough to fill another flat rate box, if you'd like me to max out what I can affordably send you. Please advise with your thoughts. Mike
If nobody else wants them, I will take them. If you have any past issues with small articles (I think they're on the front from what I've seen ?) on 1907 High Reliefs or Saint-Gaudens trends in general, those would be issues I'd really like.
