I think I see a touch of wear. I’m going to say AU55.

 

Oh John, I normally respect your opinions, but AU58, I thought might be a stretch. Searching for "comps", I found this 1932 NGC MS64 CAC. You may be correct, with the OP posted coin being graded NGC MS64+. I personally have really been surprised by NGC grading.

 

Looking at Liberty’s face and the eagle’s feathers, I’d say AU55 max.

The 1932 eagle is the most common date in the $10 Indian series. As such it has been a popular coin for dealers to sell to non-collectors as an “investment.” The TPGs know this, and there has been a lot of lose grading for this date. Many AUs have been pushed to Unc. for retail sales purposes.

I like this rate because it’s the only U.S. gold coin dated in the 1930s that is affordable for most collectors. Finding a properly graded one is a challenge.

To show you how common this date is, perhaps a decade ago, Heritage had entire standard case filled with them, all certified, piled five or more coins deep at a Winter FUN show. I went though a number of them and didn’t see one that was conservatively graded.

 

If that 1932 eagle is graded MS-64 by NGC and CAC, they both blew it. There are way too many marks on the Indian’s cheek to merit that grade.
