Any reason not to buy an NGC PF70 $10 Eagle?

I want to buy a NGC PF70 $10 Eagle from a reputable ebay seller. I have a 10% off coupon that would bring the total to $310.

It seems like a good deal.

Anybody want to put in their 2 cents?

    Any help is appreciated.

I just bought a really nice, ungraded, Peace $ from a dealer on eBay. Check this out first:

Then see what you may have to deal with. I am by no means, an expert, but I'm learning from the best, here on CoinTalk.

There is none unless you want to throw your money away. For 310 bucks you can buy a heck of a coin.

Nate, it seems like a pretty decent price for these right now. Depending on the year, the price has some wiggle room. Is it UltraCam? It probably is. If you like the coin and want to spend your money on it, go for it! Heck, the new ones from the Mint are going for $330 + shipping.

The one thing I would add is that if the dealer has a PF69 for even cheaper, I'd probably get that one. There's hardly any difference in the coin and the price should be even better.

I don't think he is talking about a gold eagle but a silver eagle. I doubt the mint is selling silvers for 300 USD and I doubt a PF70 Gold eagle would go for 300 USD

    Maybe I misunderstood?

Ruben, I figured it was a 1/4 oz Gold eagle because he said it was a $10. Of course, the other possibilty is a 1/10 oz Platinum eagle in the $10 denomination.

Silver eagles are 1 dollar denomination Ruben. And nate if I were you I would buy a lot of graded silver eagles instead then send them to me :D. But if you like gold better than do that it seems like a good deal. :thumb:

Yeah - I don't understand what he's asking. The gold content of a 1/4 ounce eagle iis substantial and the mint sells them proof for 330.00

You got me. if you can get the slabbed PF70 then go for it, but it makes no sense

The coin in quesition is a PF 70 Ultra Cameo 2006 1/4 ounce $10 gold Eagle.

It says 1,753 have been graded in this condition by NGC out of 16,000 minted.

The thing that attracted me to this coin is that it is graded perfect and costs about the same as an ungraded 1/4 ounce $10 gold Eagle from the mint. (Actually less!)

I am looking for a coin with at least a 1/4 ounce of gold.

    Update:

I purchased the coin. $344.95 free shipping.

    I added $5.50 for insurance.

    The 10 % coupon subtracted $34.50.

Which brought the final total to $316.00

I am reallly happy because my local coin shop did not have any coins graded above MS69.

It seems like you got a fair deal.

but remeber, it is harder to get a MS-69 than it is a PF-69...

Thats a great deal regardless of the grade.

Looking at the recent auctions, I'm shocked at the low selling prices for the gold eagles

2006 was a very good year for coin collector's & the US Mint too!!!

    * but 2008 may turnout to be a bandier year with bullion as low mintage's are?

2006 has a 2yr jump and thing are already jumping!!!
