On the other hand, the curly mustache might bring a premium.

The obverse of the peace dollar is just ugly. I do like the eagle on the reverse.

I have always thought that the obverse of the Morgan is interesting and I also like the reverse.

I do. That coin has no business being every color of the rainbow, and more.
It should be bleached at once!

The Morgan reverse grows on you over time as you become familiar with it. I always feel that I know I'm looking at a great sample when the eagle head looks like it's almost been set into the piece. Of course it is best to avoid and coins with rust.

Oddly enough, coins can be found with rust on them. It isn't all that uncommon. But the rust does not come from the coins, except for the '43 steelies. The rust comes from some steel or iron object that the coin has come into prolonged contact with at some point. And, the rust can be removed without harming the coin.

That said, the coin that Lehigh posted in no way has rust on it. That is a golden russet toning that is somewhat common on Peace dollars and other silver coins of the era. I find it rather attractive myself. But to each his own.

And for the record Lehigh, Ruben didn't say it was rust - he said it looked like rust. There is a difference.

And that being said - both of you start playing nice and be civil to one another, and stop antagonizing one another - or I'm gonna make ya both go sit in the corner ;)

Both of you are intelligent enough to get across your points and disagree all you want - without being antagonistic. So play nice boys.

As another "non dollar" collector going with Morgans. At least they had some detail to begin with. Peace dollars have always been bland to me.

    Thank you Clembo!
I do kind of like the Peace dollar. But the Morgan is, in my opinion, superior. The Peace dollar is just very plain.

Uh oh. I need to stress that neither of the two coins photographed above are mine, they were used as examples.

But thank you for you sentiments about my other coins. I love all rainbow toned coins, mine and everyone else's. Here is my latest acquisition for your viewing pleasure. 1930-S SLQ NGC MS67 FH
