Welcome to Coin Talk. In 2009 the US Mint produced 4 different reverse designs of Lincoln cents made out of both copper plated zinc (2.5 grams)and original copper (3.11 grams). You're probably weighing 1 of each kind on cent together weighing 5.6 grams. The one at 3.2 g is within tolerance.

Redbook shows that in 2009 a total of 2,995,615 copper cents were produced. The 784,614 Satin finish were in Gov't. packaged Mint Sets.
If you don't have a copy of the Redbook, you should get one. It's considered "The Bible" of coin collecting. The Official title is A Guide Book of United States Coins by R.S. Yeoman, et.al. by Whitman Publishing. Enjoy our hobby. :)

Tommorrow Im going to goto my local coin shop where Kyle who used to work for PCGS confirms my information that ....As far as I can tell from the PCGS website and everywhere else I looked "Zero Circulated 2009 Penny's should weigh 3.2 Grams" Per the PCGS website all circualted 2009 Penny's should weigh 2.5 grams. I also checked on my friends Redbook as you suggested for the information on the "Circualted 2009 D Presidency Penny" and unless I/He missed something which is plausible ZERO 2009 D Circualted and/or ZERO "Circulated" Penny's should weigh 3.2 grams. All "circulated" Penny's are shown to weigh 2.5 Grams.
Anyhow thank you thank you thank you very much for your time and for all of your knowledge.

No copper cents were minted for circulation in 2009, that does not mean that some of the copper cents did not get into circulation. Yours is simply one of the copper ones that someone put into circulation.

They made almost 3 million of these in copper. Many of them did make it into circulation. Sending it in would be a complete waste of money.

Just curious. If you were waiting for "Kyle" to confirm your thoughts, why did you get members of CT involved?

Just a mint set coin that someone spent. These are not costly if they are MS, if this coin shows any wear it is worth even less. It is not worth submitting.

I came to coin talk to learn and was hoping that someone could help me learn or point me in the right direction to look for the answers. But all I have seemed to have done was piss some of you off and I apologize for that. It was not my intention to upset anyone or rock the boat. This penny is not from a set it is not a cameo I dont know how to be any clearer about that. The only information I can find on PCGS and in Redbook show that only the cameos were to weigh 3.2 and they only made 746k of the cameos weighing 3.2 grams. So had this been one of the cameos that still would have been a cool find 1 in 746k is still pretty cool (to me that is) now with that said if anyone can show me where in red book or PCGS that it show me where it shows how many Circulated non cameo 2009 pennies weigh 3.2 that would be so awesome I say this not out of malice or smart talk or disrespectful I am honestly trying to find that information that is why I came here I've only been at this coin thing for a couple months and I am truly just trying to learn but I am finding out that some not all of the coin help pages etc can be a very cold place and not easy to get help without all the shade that comes with it and I have no idea why. Anyhow again my appologies for upsetting anyone that was not my intention my intention was just to learn and to make friends in the coin world but that is not what happened because I upset alot of you and I appologise

Your coin likely started out as a cameo/not for circulation coin, but due to circulation you can no longer tell. Your coin has lost its CAMEO!!!!!

Look, @paddyman98 is VERY keen to correct anyone with a spelling or terminology mistake. It has happened to me more than once. It is a pretty neat coin, but as mentioned earlier, not worth submitting. Everyone is a new collector at one point or another, but it is important to always accept the answers you get, be it from a TPG or any other expert. If you stay, you will learn a lot here. You could become a large part of the community here, but giving the rest of the members a cold shoulder will not do any good to anyone, not even yourself. And I don't think anyone was offended, so let that one go. We all have rough experiences here at one point or another, but things aren't always like this. Also, Get the Red Book.

Nobody got upset. Not me at all. And you didn't rock the boat. I'm sorry if you misunderstood me. I will be more sensitive to your needs next time. You got correct and good answers from all the others!

Welcome to CoinTalk. We are here to help.
    Paz amigo.
