2008 american legacy collection composed of 15 proof coins cost $100.00. limit per household is 10 set. maximu, mintage is 50,000. shipping start at nov.24, 2008. are you buying this set?. can it sold out?.
I made the mistake of buying the first 3...never again.... as much as I liked the sets, they were not worth the price you pay. A proof set goes for $27 and the Proof Comm goes for $44..... so you are telling me that the packaging is worth $29!!!! I don't think so. Too bad it just took me three years to figure this out.
Well, the Silver Set is more than 27 dollars. Does it have the Eagles this year? That is going to be popular. Ruben
silver set? this is not a silver set. this is only a 14 clad proof set plus one silver proof commemorative dollar. the proof set is $26.95 + the commem is $43.95 = $70.90. the mint sell for $100.00. if you bought the commem proof dollar earlier. the was only $39.95 i think. so the total will be reduce to $66.95.
AGGHHHH. I am trying to save up for the 2009 Ultra High Relief Double eagle then they do crap like this. I already bought my proof set and commemorative coins but I may just have to buy this one to.
how many? how many legacy set do we have now?. i don't think each year we have one. i don't follow this. but still it is nice to know it.
No the legacy set is 100 bucks. The normal proof set is 27. I think they started making the legacy sets in 2005. I am pretty sure it was 135 last year so it has gone down in price this year.
Here is a link showing it on the US Mint's website. http://catalog.usmint.gov/webapp/wc...ick&langId=-1&catalogId=10001&ddkey=ClickInfo
prices can you give us all the initial offered by the u.s. mint. from the first issue up to present time. thanks.
Its been $135 for the past 3 years and the only reason why it dropped by $35 was because it has only one proof comm dollar.
You are killing me Elaine! Give me a few minutes to look them up because I don't have them handy right now. I don't think they ever hit their max mintage for any year, but I could be wrong. They may have sold out in 05... the first year and 07 had the lowest sales numbers, but as far as exact details go, I will have to get back with you. I just sold my collection of Legacy sets this summer. Green18 (Ken) bought my 05 off me. I like the sets, but they take up too much space.
thanks again go look for it. i like figures. specially not sold out. thanks again. i will wait for it.
Ok Elaine, from what I found out, it appears that the 2005 and 2006 reached max production of 50,000 sets. So far the 2007 set appears to be the key of the series with only 27,023 produced. Hope this helps.
thanks now the 2008 is composed only one silver proof coin. so the price is $100.00. so the 2005 were composed of john marshall & marine corps. 2006 were benjamin franklin two designs. and 2007 were central high school & jamestown. and those prices are $135.00 per set. is that correct?.
numismatic news n.n. magazine quoted the retail price for 2005 is $114.00 and 2006 is $96.00. so the average buying price might be around $80.00 for 2005 and $67.00 for 2006.
The 2006 had the Franklin Founding Father silver dollar and the San Francisco Old Mint Retail prices sound about right. I think I sold my 2005 for $135, but I don't remember. Sold my 2006 for $86 and the 2007 for $150.
to jaceravone in this case, you are losing money. better not to buy the 2008 set. instead i think 2007 proof set is the lowest proof set since 1970's.
