That skull is at the Rocsen Museum (Nono, Córdoba, Argentina) and is advertised as that. But I don´t think it is actually true. The skull was found by a kid who eventually funded this museum along with some coins, donations and old inheritance stuff from his family. Teeths are missing and in general, jaw looks like that of an old person, not a regular legionary. In any case, a veteran who saw action for a last time, but I doubt it.
Eh, I saw much worst in the Gulf War. I am kind of suspicious of these being found like that. I won't go into gory details why.
I have seen items like this in history and archaeological publications and while fascinating to think about, I don't think I would want one in my collection, maybe for the same reason I am uncomfortable walking through museums where the bodies of long dead people (like Egyptian mummies) are on public display.
Commodus Alexandria Septimius Severus Philippopolis I am unaware of many war action coin types. Obviously there are the Falling Horsemen and a few other horse vs. foot from that period but we do not have scenes of regular battles showing infantry, archers or machines in use with victims.
It looks to be a young female to me, but couldn't say firmly without turning it around and looking at the nuchal lines on the back of the skull. If male, young and poorly muscled. IMO, Jim

I don't think I have ever seen a coin with some kind of ancient catapult on it but I would like to if anyone has one.
I hope the skull wasn't found in Argentina, or I'd be even more suspicious about its authenticity than I already am!
Come to think of it, I haven't either. I don't remember any instruments of war save for swords, bows, arrows, horses, and I think slings.
