as a side note the 3 digit is probably the most pathetic attempt at an alteration in all of recorded and unrecorded history.

The seller has it listed with a private auction and that in-of-itself says the seller knows it isn't real. They need to be NARU'd!

I'm glad everyone has feelings about such things that are as strong as mine. Numismatics should be enjoyed by all, without fear of wasting your money on a counterfeit or an alteration.

That's true rim cents ,but I did read about it maybe it was false information at that time. We all know that this was during war time ,and they needed the copper for weapons and such that;s why they minted the steel pennies. I heard there were only five minted I could be wrong. I guess I shouldn't believe what I read all the time

also I'm sure this item will be relisted numerous times so everyone, PLEASE keep an eye on this. I can just picture someone bidding like $5000 just for this junk I can imagine the disappointment when they try to send this to a reputable company like NGC (but hey, you never know if they send it to SGS it may well turn out to be an MS 70!)!!

Are you logged into Ebay, RLM? To use that link you have to be a member of Ebay and be logged in. It's the same link they use in CFE.

Also, I'd be suspicious of this seller's other near perfect looking ultra rare double die coins with and ultra low starting bid (I'm sure you REALLY get what you pay for in that case) and of course their all private listings too ( a favorite scheme among bogus item listers).

Ps: Because CT has a thingy going with Ebay, to get paid for clicking on a link going to Ebay (or something like that), the direct link doesn't work from here. So type the address into your web browser to make it work. ;)

Thsi is all I can find right now, but it is dated 2001 (Heritage). However, I am pretty sure there are now 11, 1, & 7. I just read an article in CW, but I cannot find it now.

When I copy and paste it, it redirects me to the same page I posted - and that page is already listed in the CT reference section.

well anyway I never buy rare coins on Ebay the most valuable coin I ever bought was worth $500 anything more expensive then that-buy from a reputable coin dealer.Ebay was intended for disney pins, Legend Of Zelda games etc. not rare coins.

I need to go play in the Reference section sometime. ;) I guess the long version link is the better one to use here (direct link from CT) since it will work with the Rover thingy. :thumb: However, it's easier to remember the short version and just type it in whenever needed, since the long version would be impossible to remember off the top of your head. :headbang:
