Update . . . . I had 2 more Connecticut Coppers come in today and they are both 1787's. One is a M33.4-q (INDE recut from INDN error variety) R-5/6 and the other is a M42 -kk.2 (AUCTOPI ETIIB error variety) R-4. Technically, most peeps don't consider them errors, but I dew and since they are mine and possession is 9 tenths of the law, I overrule them. I'll post pics tomorrow. :kewl: Ribbit Ps: Now I have to attribute the 2 Massachusetts Cents that came in. I feel like a kid at Christmas. hya:
I can't wait until tomorrow, my blood presure will go up from the excitment.I tell you what, if you post it today who could have either the reverse of my fugio, or the obverse OK encil: deal . jazzcoin Joe
I loaned my camera to a friend and he won't be back until tomorrow so I can't get great pics. However, I can see what I can dew with a little digital camcorder I got in on Friday. Ribbit Ps: It doesn't have a macro feature so you'll have to wait till tomorrow.
That's fine I;m just kidding with you, great i guess Christmas came a little early this year:thumb: Enjoy my friend Jazzcoins Joe:whistle:
The 2 Massachusett Cents are both 1788's. One is a R1-D and the other is a R10-L, which I already have, so the lesser one will be on the auction block soon. I prefer not to get ones I already have, unless it's a major upgrade, but I can't always attribute from pics and that was the case with this one but it didn't set me back much so I'll make out otay. I also finally busted a New Jersey Cent out of it's slab and attributed it, 1787 M39-a, and it's now in my coin book/folder. The body count so far is: 4 - 1773 Virginia Half-Pennies (1 still in route for a total of 5) 4 - Massachusetts Cents (1 double) 6 - Fugios (no doubles) 8 - Connecticut Cents (no doubles) 10 - New Jersey Cents (1 double & 1 triple) So that's all of my early federal/state issues. Ribbit Ps: I need to learn how to use the Album feature so I can upload pics into it. :goofer:
Toad - we all can only envy your limitless $ for new pieces. hya: I like the 1787 M4-L better because I can at least see the outline of the design (did they have to strike it lots of times to be sure? :whistle! Nothing like early copper - but for me, I just switched countries (British Conder tokens) to afford them.
I find it to be a better investment than the Stock Market and a whole lot more fun! I think the mint kept hiring within the ranks. :goofer: That explains the mistakes further down the line. hya: I love the Conder Series! :thumb: The problem is, the ones I like go for $100 and up, which would put a dent into my other purchases, so I rarely get any. My favorites are the Pidcocks & Spence Tokens. :thumb: Ribbit Ps: Wait till I post pics of the 1787M33.4-Q. It was labeled XF Details with Obv Planchet Flaws and it's easily XF, so the details are exceptional. :kewl:
That sure sounded like it belonged somewhere on George Carlin's Class Clown Album. I'll have to sit down and writeup the Boogher Syndrome one of these days and post it in the GD Forum. That'll leave you serioulsy wanting for breathable air. Ribbit
 :eat: Now you've got me all interested...hafta research into these. Those are so neat looking! I am always looking for old coinage...1799 and before...nothing like holding a copper in your hand that has that 17 date on it :thumb:
Here are the 2 I got in on Saturday. The first one is a M33.4-q (R-5/6) and the other one is a M42-kk.2 (R-4) AUCTOPI ETIIB error variety. :kewl: I love the planchet flaws in the first one, along with the die cracks and recut letters. They add character to them! :thumb: Ribbit
I got another Connecticut in today: It's a 1787 M15-F (R-3/4) and has a typical bad planchet yet a decent strike, considering. :thumb: Ribbit
I like this one out of all of them ,nice detail and a wonderful looking coin. Thanks for the pics toad keep them coming Jazzcoins Joe:whistle:
Here's another Connecticut, that's the identical variety as the last one I posted: http://cgi.ebay.com/1787-Connecticu...goryZ528QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem It went cheap! Ribbit
