I found the following on ebay. http://cgi.ebay.com/1943-COPPER-CEN...goryZ524QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem The seller claims it's not fake, but it seems too good to be true. Who in there right mind would sell a 1943 COPPER cent for a 99 cent starting bid with no reserve?!? I would love your imput. Thanks.
does anyone else notice that on the PCI graders rejection sheet, that it refers to the coin as a 1943 cent and nowhere even implies that it is a copper cent. Just a thought.
I am not sure about the 1941, but on the real 1943, the tail of both the 3 and 9 are at the same height. That is definitely not the case for this coin.
I agree that it is a mutilated 1941 and as to the submission sheet, it is filled out by the submitter, so they can put whatever they want on it and the first thing they do is determine if it's gradeable and if it isn't, it's rejected, just as this one was. So the submission form is not proof of anything, except for the seller's stupidity! Ribbit Ps: I've forwarded this to the CFE Group and I'm certain they will get it pulled.
Hmmmm... I'm wondering if any species of toad says "gotta bid... gotta bid..." instead of "ribbit" ? Thanks for posting this one, everybody. I reported it as well. I think it will get pulled. The CT Posse rides again ! :thumb:
That is so ridiculois ,now we all can't be that crazy thinging this is a true 43 copper cent. They are already accounted for, one is in the smithsonian and i forget were the others ones are located I think there were five made not sure on the number. and nobody in there right mind is going to sell it for that price Jazzcoins Joe :whistle:
That is clearly a legitmate copper 1943 cent, just misdated with a 1 that's been "damaged" instead. A double error you might say, but damaged so I won't bid on it.
Ebay pulled that one. It takes a lot of complaints to get them to do that but they will. That's how CFE worked, by working together and reporting anything confirmed "bad" they got stuff pulled but rarely fast, so maybe Ebay is starting to realize they can save money (PayPal by listening to them? Ribbit
I know that it has already been pulled but i disagree that it is a modified 1941. I think that it is actually a 1948 eith the left hand side of the eight removed. Richard
counterfeit?? While we're on the subject of counterfeiting & having items pulled from e-bay. Are these even legal without the word "COPY" stamped on them? http://cgi.ebay.com/1873CC-TRADE-DOLLAR-CONTEMPORY-19-95-SHIPPING-1-50_W0QQitemZ150283738054QQihZ005QQcategoryZ11978QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem http://cgi.ebay.com/1893P-MORGAN-DOLLAR-CONTEMPORY-19-95-SHIPPING-1-50_W0QQitemZ310075607580QQihZ021QQcategoryZ11979QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem http://cgi.ebay.com/1877CC-TRADE-DOLLAR-CONTEMPORY-19-95-SHIPPING-1-50_W0QQitemZ310075604845QQihZ021QQcategoryZ11978QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem http://cgi.ebay.com/1894P-MORGAN-DOLLAR-CONTEMPORY-19-95-SHIPPING-1-50_W0QQitemZ400002399965QQihZ027QQcategoryZ11979QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem http://cgi.ebay.com/1797-DRAPED-BUST-STYLE-CONTEMPORY-19-95-SHIPPING-1-50_W0QQitemZ310075600330QQihZ021QQcategoryZ11976QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
What form do you use to report them? Tyr this one. It is specifically for coin problems. http://contact.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAP...%A0Selling+Coins&instruction=&expirationDate=
Good man. Thanks for the head's up. I'm in the act of reporting every one of 'em. Here is a link for E-Bay's rules regarding replicas : http://pages.ebay.com/help/policies/selling-coins.html And here is the relevant passage : "Any "reproduction," "replica," or "copy" coin (U.S. or foreign) must be plainly and permanently marked with the word COPY. " The listings above are clearly in violation of E-Bay policy.
