Since Larry posted such a wild looking 1854 002 mpd. I decieded to show a couple of nicely toned half dime that are ddo's I find 38 and 39 's quite often but cant refuse buying them as each has a story of its own. the ding on the 38 liberty shield I believe to be a strike through....if you examine the medal movement around the hit. Now only to find an 38 o an 39 o in the same condition and color.
The stars Frank, recut some with additional points and since there were several dies ,each with the same issue recut dies 1838 there are 9 ddo's and for 1839 1 for the P and 1 for the O mint marks. Again recut stars also found on the 1840 o. So you see Frank there are sub sets of varieties within the varieties..... making the chase so exciting lol.... but yes you must retain it all...Nah I use a book .
