I have bought two TV's and a Roku on Craigslist...and a couple of Peace dollars from a kind of sketchy guy...
To buy and sell items on a more personal level. A few years ago I wanted to get NY Rangers tickets for my son's birthday. The prices on Stub Hub & Ticket Master were very high so I was able to buy them from someone On Craig's List for a slight premium over face. I also bought some used Taylor Made golf clubs from that site which cost me less than other sites I looked at. Both time I had to pick them up from the seller. I thought about using the site if I ever decide to sell some of my coins. Before I do I'll check out their sellers fees and hope it's not as bad as eBay. Both times it was a cash transaction so no PayPal fees.
Did anyone else try to open the second picture?.. I tried a few times until I realized.. its a screen shot of the craiglist ad and not an actual link to 2 pictures! ugh.
I have sold at least a 5 figure sum of items on Craigslist, after advertising on a site as CoinTalk, etc.. I've purchased numerous vehicles/implements there. I was once a dedicated eBay, and numerous other sites seller/buyer, but the communications between partners became so horrendous, I decided Craigslist was the least encumbering. I've driven from North to South, East to West buying awesome vehicles, and meeting very talented individuals. It's a site often used by very intelligent/creative individuals, whom I've appreciatively met. There are certain precautions required, just as this site. Once a reputation of honesty/trustworthiness is established as a seller/buyer, returns of dealings are established by word of mouth, and frequent. I still get occasional calls from long past buying individuals looking for unique or competitively priced items. Dependent upon usage, there can be minimal/no fees. JMHO
I list rental properties there. It works well. When people leave stuff when they move, I list it as free and people come and haul it away.
I have a friend that sells stuff all the time. He puts it in the driveway and lets people come by and look at it. Quick way to get rid of stuff. I think that trying to sell coins on CL is stupid.
We got one of our dogs off Craigslist. I also got a discontinued Star Wars Lego set so there are 2 reasons. That's about it though
Conduct your coin, jewelry, etc. transactions at a police station when using CL. If the buyer refuses, you know something is not right.
Used Craigslist twice. Once to sell a used car, once to sell a RV. Both times worked well and didn't cost a cent.
What better solution do you have, for listing/selling coins free, when using craigslist in conjunction with eBid, delivering throughout the country, from your home with shown "feedback"? I believe there are many "stupid" individuals who have found a "better way". JMHO
Only thing I like about that CL ad is that it's in Oxnard. I have fond memories of spending time in Oxnard many years ago. In regards to CL, I've only use it once and I wasn't that impressed. It's free (or at least it was back when I used it). But I had too many knuckleheads responding. I've bought & sold on ebay since 2004 to current.
