hone your grading skills -- seated half dollar

    Here's another new purchase. Please guess the grade that NGC assigned to the coin:

    Very nice coin with great toning and original surfaces! It is hard to make out luster though. My amateur vote is AU-55.

    What a beautiful well struck coin , great color . My 1st impression was AU , but after looking harder , from the picture I' say MS-60 -61 .

    I'd say MS60 for that one but I'm not an expert with these at all. I think it may also have been lightly cleaned a long time ago...but that doesn't affect the eye appeal one bit.

    That's a very good observation -- there is NO luster in the fields. :)

    I really should have mentioned it...the coin is prooflike. You can kind of make it out in the last pair of photos.

    Man, Mike, you sure know how to pick out high eye appeal coins. I like it as a AU58 since luster is impaired. Great coin!

    Personally I'd have to say AU55 but kind of epxect they said AU58.
