OK, it's been 24 hours so I'll post. In what is sure to be a surprise this coin received a GOLD sticker (it was a bit of a surprise to me at the time). I did note that at least some of you noticed (I hope the photo showed it well) the little scrape in the Indian's knot. That's always kept me from re-submitting the coin to get the MS 67. In addition I always figured it might be better to keep the coin with the GOLD sticker since often those coins often go for more money. Well, when it came time to sell I did pretty well (and I paid a LOT for the coin originally...I owned it about 16 years, BTW). However, sure enough....a month or two went by and I saw the coin again. Now in a PCGS 67 holder with a GREEN sticker. I once again (like my earlier 1919-S Dime) left money on the table. ARGH! So I guess CAC was consistent with this one at least....and although both CAC and PCGS are experts I'm still not convinced it was a 67. But who am I to say? jom
Maybe a luster bump as well....you'd have to see in hand though. It's tough with just a photo. Also, it eventually got a "PCGS color bump" as well. jom
Attractive luster and color for the 1936-D 5c but not something I would pay 66 money for except maybe some pct back of blue sheet. A C coin - no bean. Reverse blob area a turnoff.
I love your post but the title was confusing. Well...to be frank your title is a little confusing...the way it sounds like you have a slabbed coin and you want us (the CT community) to look at given coin and give our recommendations on whether to CAC or not to CAC. I hope we can do that; or is this just CAC slabbed coins and you want us to determine if the CAC fits the coin? Just wondering. Other than that great post.
ddddd is keeping a tally of all the coins posted, which you can see throughout the thread. We've had all types: Green CAC on coin and deserves it: 11 Green CAC on coin and doesn't deserve it: 7 Gold CAC on coin and deserves it: 1 Gold CAC on coin but should only be Green: 3 Gold CAC on coin but should not sticker: Failed to sticker but deserves a sticker: 6 Failed to sticker and should not sticker: 1 Unknown sticker status and deserves a sticker:1 Unknown sticker status and does not deserve a sticker:2
I really like this thread and it is intelligently setup and well executed. It has demonstrated that whether a coin will CAC is more a matter of taste (CAC) in my view and there can be valid material reasons why others may not share it one way or another. A coin has to fit the buyers taste whether CAC or not. I buy the coin not the sticker. The thread has been informative to me in gauging CAC’s taste and how it matches up with my own and things look for in evaluating the coin. Per JA Podcast CAC stickers coins they feel A or B in the grade range. C coins no sticker.
It is as @physics-fan3.14 said, we are taking pretty much every possible outcome (has sticker, no sticker, unknown) and giving our opinion of what we think CAC would say. And yes the thread isn’t perfect as we don’t know exactly what standards CAC applies, so quite a bit is conjecture mixed in with each person’s own thoughts.
There could be another thread that shows a slabbed coin and it's grade. The question could be "Given the average selling price for similarly dated coins with this grade, would you bid lower, the same, or higher for this coin?". I guess in a sense we are doing this in this thread already by either agreeing or disagreeing with CAC (at least for the coins that have been sent to CAC).
Can you help me with an explanation of secondary toning? Is it a coin that was cleaned or dipped then re-toned on its own? How can you tell the difference between toning and re-toning?

Rd. 13 was tied between green and gold at 4-4...I interpreted that geekpryde would consider it a gold
That is a good idea too. Another similar thing I've considered is a thread where each person posts a coin and we decide if it gets a "CoinTalk Sticker"...meaning do more people like the coin compared to don't like the coin (although that could get messy/biased as it might be hard to be honest-especially if telling someone you don't like their coin).
I'll definitely go gold. If that's really an AU55 coin I'll eat a bug (well not eat it but think about it).
