Hey those are nice. My girlfriend works at a bank and I have her "look out for old money". She has done fairly well, never as old as 1928, but '34's, 50's, 63's, 69's, and once last year, it was face value of $40 in Silver certs. Iwish they happened every day. Anyway, very nice find.(I am jealous) John
Very nice. I worked at a bank for a year and never saw a red sealed $5 note. I got a handful of $2 red seals which I bought, a bunch of $1 silver certs and a number of older (no older than 1950) FRNs...but that's it. So, nice find!!!
If you decide to keep any of them keep that "numeral note" I simply can't belive you found that at face! Folks must be getting irrational out there!! RickieB
Yes, they are. I am seeing quite a bit more early stuff lately. Earlier in the week I had dibs on, looked through but passed on over $900 in series 1950B $10's.
I am definitely keeping all of these! On the topic of irrationality... I think that it is people getting "panicky" over the economy, and losing their minds! In the past year, I have gotten three $10 silver certificates, several $2 red seals and $1 silver certificates, and what you see above. I am still waiting for the older woman in my grandfather's neighborhood to open her trunk. Supposedly, she has hundreds of dollars of older bills form the 1940s on!
Don't want to get political or anything, but suffice it to say we're in for a a little rough weather, but the sky is not falling! If you don't work for a mortgage company or a realtor, and you don't have a lot of stock investments, and aren't in danger of foreclosure... heck you're not really that worse off are you? Even gas prices are falling... it's down to less than $3 a gallon again, even despite the supposed crisis! I'm not worried... the economy's recovered from worse. This isn't going to be another Great Depression. The only people who think the sky is falling are those who have a lot vested into the worse hit sectors of the economy and/or those who have a vested political interest in getting people to think the worst about the economy. This too, will pass. In the meantime if people want to cash in their old currency, pick up whatever you can afford to keep! Be along time before you have this kind of chance again to pad out your collection at face value! Seize the opportunity while you have it.
