I can't tell about the 1861/0, would need to see the coin in hand. But it definately looks like a die clash on the obverse. I would say vf-30 on the grade. Cleaned in the past. Nice coin though!

Since Johnny has asked about the authenticity of a gold $1 Liberty, I also have one that is questionable and I'd like opinions on it. The "excessive" die cracks on the reverse worrys me so please let both of us know what you think about our gold dollars. :thumb:

Toad your's is an ex-jewelry piece. Johnny's - the crown bothers me so it may be a fake, to be honest I don't know.

Nice coins guys. Now if Hobo was here, he is an expert at counterfeit gold.

Mine isn't an ex-jewelry piece, it's still a jewelry piece. :D I just cropped out the loop. ;) I wanted one just to have one and wasn't picky so it being a jewelry piece reduced what I had to pay for it but I am not good at determining the better counterfeits as such. I also have another one but it's currently MIA (dropped it and still haven't found it). :kewl: I will post pics of it when I find it. :goofer:
